The workshop was a success. We coded in groups and by the end of the 3 hours everyone had scraped a site and presented their work. JavaScript knowledge was helpful but not required for the team project work. More review of DOM traversal techniques would have been nice. The workshop description should suggest installing node.io in advance, but Mark showed those of us with install problems a fast and easy way to get running in the cloud. A few pages of handouts with instructions and code would work better than PowerPoint slides for this type of workshop format. Mark knew his stuff and clearly explained how everything worked.
All and all a good workshop. Had a few bumps in the beginning but they were not the presenters fault. I really enjoyed hacking around a bit with node.io.
