Beim Erstellen eines Videos für die Flash-Plattform entstehen viele Fragen: Welche Codecs unterstützt der Flash Player und wie unterscheiden sich diese? Welche Einstellungen wirken sich wie aus? Gibt es auch vernünftige Open-Source-Encoding-Tools? Web-Video-Experte Florian Plag gibt einen Überblick über die technischen Hintergründe und Rahmenbedingungen beim Flash-Video-Encoding. Schwerpunkt bildet dabei der MPEG-4-Standard, dessen effizienter H.264-Codec sich zum "Star" unter den aktuellen Video-Codecs entwickelt hat.
