Java has a long history of innovating in the web space. Servlets brought longing running and multi-threading applications while Struts and JavaServer Pages (JSP) brought MVC and separation of concerns. But it is 2010 now and Agile, productivity and testability rule . Unfortunately Java’s initial ground braking innovations have not kept pace. Fortunately the Java Platform has proven to be a great platform for running alternative languages like Groovy, Ruby, Scala and Closure. Each of these languages have their own innovative web frameworks that have brought productivity back to the JVM.
