The UNC School of Medicine suffered a security breach last summer that required notification of over 100,000 patients that their information may have been exposed. This presentation will talk about the scope of damage that is caused by a breach of this magnitude and the many steps that are necessary for damage control and recovery.

Very, very informative, I am now more alert (and a little scared) than ever. It is a brave man who is willing to expose the weaknesses under his watch to prevent the rest of us from having to undergo his pain.

These detailed post event analysis are by far the greatest value add of regional conferences. Sharing the painful lessons in a honest and conversational manner gives the rest of us the value of your experience without having to wait for something similar to happen at our institution. Thanks for sharing the insights you have gained, hopefully we will be able to leverage the lessons you have gained back at our institutions. It would be interesting to hear about what happens in year two.
