a very nice, relaxed introduction to the usage of Zend_Tool. and a perfect moment to handle my heckles, which was resolved in a true binarykitten fashion.
Although this was Kat's very first conference talk, you couldn't actually tell: she obviously knows here stuff and can present it in a clear and understandable way.
I did come into this expecting to see a little more about writing your own providers, but as an intro to setting up and making your maiden voyage with Zend_Tool, excellent work!
I enjoyed this talk, presented very well and the live demonstrations were really useful, especially for me with no prior knowledge of ZF.
it didnt do enough to convince me that ZF is the future or that I should go install it when I get to work tomorrow... but thats not the point of the talk. Its given me the knowledge needed so I can go setup a basic implementation myself and have a play.
Let's get the bad out of the way first up. While I appreciate that 9:15 the day after a social is never going to be anyone's ideal slot to speak in because of the sparse turn out of delegates, and it's a more informal day, if I (and other delegates) can make the effort to be there on time for your talk, it's polite for you to do the same.
That being said, the talk did a good job of introducing the concepts of what Zend_Tool is, how to set it up and how to use it. Brave stuff to try a live demo out. I would have loved more information on writing my own providers because I can see big benefits in doing that, but appreciated the links to providers written Cal and MWOP.
I didn't have a problem with the conversational style, but I agree that the delivery could be a little slower. Hopefully that will come with more practice. Just work on the time keeping please.
Aside from the fact that Kat was late after I'd made a special effort to get out of bed earlier to see her talk, I think she did a great job. It was interesting and clearly presented, and the practical demonstrations were really good.
It looked a pain to install ZF correctly to do this, however I use the zfcampus.org pear installation that Ralph provides, which makes it a breeze to install in the server's standard environment and php include paths. Hopefully this will become the method of choice in ZF 2
A good primer to Zend tool. Wouldn't have minded seeing more practical use cases, but we got a live demo, so fair enough. Touching on the more advanced aspects would also be a useful future addition to this talk.

Solid first talk and always good to see live demos in talks, and also presenters enjoying themselves whilst talking.
Delivery would be clearer if slower and less of a conversational style.
