Talk at PyCon 2009 (English - US)
PyPI has become an important piece of the puzzle when it com es to build and deliver some Python applications you can declare dependen cies in your package to third-party libraries, and tools like setuptools o r zc.buildout will try to get them at PyPI.This brought up two new prob lems - what if PyPI is down ?- what if the package is private to your company, and you don't want it at PyPI ? This talk will present - the current status, and how people work with PyPI- the work done lat ely in catalog-SIG to set up a mirrors ring, and the different solutio ns used to run your own package index or your private or public mirrors .It will also discuss how client applications like setuptools could use fail-over and index-merging mechanisms;See http //wiki.python.org/mo in/PEP_374 for the ongoing work.
