XP matured software development processes the 10-15 years since it is in production mode in different forms and variations. This workshop will give a overview on the basic principles and give a chance to explore these in excercises:

* Personal security in teams
* Define quality standards
* Small Improvements through sprints
* Reflection through retrospectives
* Informative Workspaces

Say bye bye to death marches towards deadlines and war stories from projects. Developing software is what it always should have been: A creative challenge that is still fun, despite the fact that we aim for the highest possible quality and the shortest possible route to a deployed piece of software.

The second part of the workshop covers a lot of hands on methods. We will walk the walk from Unit-Tests over static Code Analysis to automated Acceptance and Capacity testing to achieve a very fast build, test, deploy cycle. Other Areas of the workshop Part II will be in depth organized pairing, collective code ownership while we will try to set up a team with the right tools and the right workspace to support the agile mindset.

After reading pretty much everything the Internet throws at one searching for XP and Agile there was still the question "but how does that actually work out".

This tutorial day cleared up a lot of little misconceptions and the hands on things where a great experience. Seeing and feeling the process directly while being part of it was just great and lots of fun.

The workshop helped me deepen and solidify what I already knew about XP. I really enjoyed the high user partcipation, sharing of experience and high activity. Well done.

Sebastian has a very good presentation style. The morning session went at too slow a pace leaving us with a time shortage in the afternoon. (I think Sebastian's Scrum workshop at DPC10 suffered in the same way.) I just wish we had managed to fit in a little more in the time or had an extra half hour but the iBuildings members of the workshop were more concerned about a pending dinner than learning about XP. What a pity!
