Full Cycle Email Management

This talk discusses three key points in managing email campaigns:

* 1. Creating an Email Message is part art and part science. It can contain HTML, but it's not really a web page. Your viewer might be using webmail or Outlook Express or even someone on a shell account using Mutt. Are all the necessary parts of your message present and accounted for, in the right order and properly encoded and perhaps even in multiple languages?
* 2. Sending The Message. Do you queue? Do you mail()? Do you SMTP? The answer to what works for sending a message in a particular environment is usually: It Depends.
* 3. A Rejected Message. Blacklists, overzealous spam filters, delays, rate-limiting. There are a thousand reasons why your message has been bounced back. How to intercept that rejection and what to do about it is as integral to a high volume email generating system as sending the message in the first place. Getting a reputation that you don't respond to bounces is not a good place to take your organization.

Excellent examination of important email process characteristics that internet tutorials almost always gloss over. Lots of great details.

This is a topic that you rarely find a spoke on, but it is very critical in many projects. Brian is very informed and interacted/handled many great questions. I would say make the slides content a little smaller, one time I started to read and we moved right along.
