The Future of CakePHP

Rating: 4 of 5

While CakePHP has always capitalized on the strengths of PHP as a language, the latest version goes further to shrink the gap between inspiration and implementation. This talk will examine some newly-introduced development philosophies, and demonstrate techniques which can be applied for faster prototyping, painless scaling and reduced application lifecycle management overhead.

Good talk. I'd cut the first five or so slides and get right into the CakePHP stuff.

Sadly not at all what I was expecting--I don't know if that was my fault or Nate's. He seemed to be talking only to the people he knew in the room, not to the rest of us...it made it so I didn't even bother asking my question. Since my group uses CakePHP so heavily, I was looking forward to this one, but instead it left me with a sour taste in my mouth.

Next time, I'd suggest taking a different approach: perhaps give something for everyone, rather than only those really hard-core CakePHP-using friends of yours. In the entire hour, I got perhaps two things out of it...not terribly useful.
