Ian exposes the core algorithms of search solutions very clearly and reviews several projects that implement these. Perfectly balanced conference talk, great speaker that really masters the material.
Great talk! Liked to introduction to basic searchengine theory, not new but a bit more than I already knew. Lot's of different tools discussed so we can choose, nice! I really liked the balance between the tech part and the part about the usage of search to help the user.
I heard a lot of good things about this talk, but never had the chance to see it. Ian has the reputation of being a professor and proved to make good on that reputation.
Very technical, lots of algorithms, but quite easy to understand. Mission accomplished!
