Are you scared of JavaScript? Have you used jQuery but struggle with integrating JavaScript with your PHP application? This talk will help you understand how to use JavaScript effectively in your existing web pages and PHP applications. We will explore different ways to write and structure your JavaScript code and how this code can interact with your back end code via JSON. You will also learn about the model-view-view model pattern as a complement to the model view controller pattern often used in PHP to create more reusable, understandable, and testable code.

Unfortunately this was much more basic than I hoped. It felt nothing beyond jquery, more like very basic mvc concepts and js inheritance. Pace felt really really slow, the examples seemed more aimed at very beginner web designers, not at the level of professional programmers.

The local / global variable example is a bit hard to follow, a bit too complex and on 2 slides.
From the title I would expect more info about modern JS like polyfillers, TypeScript etc.

Title is misleading. Too much time reviewing jQuery code and not really modern JS (hoping to see more Angular, React or Vue.js for instance). Pace slow and very monotone.

Less modern than expected. Try to show code with output on the same slide, and maybe longer. I could not see what caused certain output, since I saw the code for only a few seconds.

Not as modern as I had hoped - nothing about using classes, modules, yarn, webpack etc. Session seemed to lack structure and the thread of what was being described was hard to follow in places.
