Very well done. Loved the examples, then finding out the problems were not as I expected them to be.

Awesome. Intriguing examples and engagement, maybe a bit focused on SQL, overall very interesting and a great way to stay awake through the post-lunch coma.

IMHO best technical talk so far, interesting concepts and real world problems.

A really well presented talk. I liked how the examples seemed to imply one solution, but the actual cause was a little deeper. Really drove home the point of monitoring and problem solving. Really well done...

I didn't know exactly what to expect from this talk but it ended up being the surprise hit of the day for me. Great work Wim!!!

This session was a good supplement to the first "Database Optimization" session presented by Steve Meyers. There were some common themes between them both that reinforced what I learned earlier that morning. I wasn't expecting it to be so database-centric, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Nicely done. Showing the tools you used to find and dig into problems (top, explain, iostat, etc) was very useful.

The talk's description didn't seem to match the actual presentation at first blush, but the content was really enjoyable. You showed off real world problems, stepped through how one can detect where issues hid and finally proposed solutions. I'll mirror that it did lean a bit heavily on database slowness, but that's to be expected since a lot of PHP problems start off in that location.

Great examples and a good reminder that there's more to creating value for a client than writing the application.
