A misconception is that mental health is only a concern for people with an active diagnosis or in a crisis period in their lives. The truth is that mental wellness is just as important, if not more so, than physical health and affects all people in some way during their lives. There’s no way to avoid mental health and illness being a factor in the wellbeing of your workforce, but there are ways to avoid letting cultural bias create a toxic environment for mental health. I will be giving information on what mental health is (as well as mental illness), providing ways tech companies can subvert bias and better care for their employees, as well as talking about how to navigate living with mental illness while working in tech on the individual level.
