The talk boils down to "new technologies are cool, but we should make sure that we're not using the new hotness just for the sake of using it"—this shouldn't be a hot take, but here we are. I appreciate Chris' reasonable approach to process and technology, and his presentation style is excellent.
Good frank talk with great talking points and arguments. Many talks introduce tools and concepts to increase complexity, so this was nice to promote simplicity. Great talk!
I really appreciated the insights. The 8 points feel spot on.
It’s been interesting to witness the evolution over the years and feeling more and more of a draw back to clearly stated specs and requirements, regardless of the time it takes to put that together. It falls under the “measure twice, cut once” rule IMO.
Some really good insights and supporting anecdotes, great talk! Sure to resonate with engineers from a variety of backgrounds and team sizes/structures. Great and actionable guidance.
