Well, after this talk I realised there's a lot out there that I still am not capable of as a php developer. Creating an extension for PHP 5, PHP 7 and HHVM is one of those things. This talk made some interesting points. It clearly focuses on the specific MongoDB implementation. It was interesting to see how composer even changed extension development.
I missed some side by side comparisons, but that's just nitpicking ;)
