This turned into a very academic talk about why PHP 7 really can't be classified as production ready yet. Having been really excited about the PHP 7 release, it was a little disappointing to hear that companies like Yahoo aren't moving very fast to adopt it.
This is a timely and tough decision for both new and established code bases. There's a lot of hype for PHP7, lots of it deserved, but this talk delivered realism from the trenches to understand how to move forward. Even if you're small and starting something new, you can be bit when you're deep into a project and you realize the extension you need isn't yet supported.

It's always good to hear why others are not adapting a new release. The speaker gave some clear math on why its too early to adapt. Not to mention that there isn't anything super beneficial with the new release considering the work it would take to get there.
