Great speaker, very interesting talk. Almost took a star off for over running but just couldn't do it

Good overview of machine learning concepts, but it overran and so a lot of the interesting detail was rushed or missed. Also had a lot of US-centric terms, jokes and references which didn’t really work in Scotland. Docked a star, but otherwise a great opening keynote.

A good talk, this lots of interesting bits. It felt like it was just warming up towards the end. To improve: I'd have rather had fewer anecdotes and a quicker introduction and spend more time on the content towards the end.

Wouldn't have minded if it went on for another hour. Super entertaining speaker

Great speaker and very confident. Did exceptionally well especially after such a long journey. Been playing with Ai now to look into ml

Ken Guest at 22:52 on 4 Nov 2017

Very interesting talk and also very thought provoking. Just not enough time!

Interesting talk!

This speaker was very well prepared and very skilled. I really enjoyed this talk about AI and made me a little bit more forgiving towards Microsoft :)

Great speaker, who had me engaged to start to finish. So much brilliant content it ran over a little but well worth it!

Thomas Roche at 10:02 on 6 Nov 2017

Over enthusiastic talker about a topic that wasn't really concerning PHP and for which the information wasn't anything new or getting far enough into the topic to be exciting. Too long as well.

Excellent talk, very engaging speaker.

Only suggestion for improvement would be to pace a little better to fit all material into the time available.

Jaap Migchels at 10:56 on 6 Nov 2017

Great talk, very interesting material and certainly something to keep an eye on for the future.

Speaker was great and very approachable after the conference.

Some sections felt a bit rushed, probably too much material and too little time.

Ciaran McNulty at 13:36 on 7 Nov 2017

Enjoyed the talk, good energy and lots of info about a subject I'm not too familiar with.

Overrunning by 15 mins kinda screwed the schedule for the rest of the day.

Craig McCreath at 14:11 on 7 Nov 2017

Really enjoyed this talk which was an excellent start to the day.

As somebody who's not looked much into AI, it provided a great base. I only wish he didn't have to rush near the end when things were getting really interesting!

Dan Martin at 14:20 on 7 Nov 2017

Entertaining speaker but didn't really get onto any of the interesting bits until the time was almost up.

Denis Brumann at 17:16 on 7 Nov 2017

Entertaining speaker and interesting topic. I'm not sure if it was part of the circumstances (being jetlagged and having arrived at last minute), but I wish the introduction was a bit shorter as the talk had to be interrupted when things were most interesting for me.

Matt Brunt at 22:28 on 7 Nov 2017

Loved the humour and it made the distinctions between an Expert System, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning easy to grasp - a nice way to start the day looking at how it's evolved over time!

Entertaining talk and delivery was great and rather insightful. I'm sure Josh could have filled the entire morning with this talk if allowed.

Raphael Stolt at 14:30 on 8 Nov 2017

Entertaining speaker though the content wasn't PHP related.

Andy Gaskell at 14:49 on 8 Nov 2017

Nice talk from Josh, hard to cover such a wide topic, but he did it with energy and humor.

James Baster at 08:28 on 9 Nov 2017

I found the second half (The AI/ML details) very interesting, and wish that section had more time and had been fleshed out properly. For that reason, I don't think the whole "I made this talk up now!" thing worked - also it's disrespectful to the other speakers and the attendees to overrun. I would have preferred it to stick to time and not have had the schedule disrupted for the morning.
