Was great to find out some more about PHP 7 from the guy who wrote PHP. His insights were both a tech deep-dive and practical. Well worth attending.
Great delivery.
On the other hand, while I understood the general principle of the talk, it wasn't always easy to follow how each piece of new code affected the overall structure. This was particularly towards the end of the demo, where the changes came thick and fast.
There was some really good content in the middle of this talk, but you took a long time getting there.
Great talk. As someone considered "a core member" according to Jess' definition in the community around our OSS product, I did recognize a lot of the points raised. That alone allowed me to take a step back, and see if there are things that I can improve by doing things differently.
As someone new to both event sourcing and CQRS, the material was clearly presented, understandable, and from a real-world point of view, highlighting the many pitfalls of using it. By far the best talk of the day.
Brillant way of approaching the topic, and having a live demo that actually worked. ;-)
It did however remind me very much of a workflow engine I wrote over a decade ago, so for me it wasn't really clear why this choice of topic.
Great talk, especially the part about microservices, which was new to me. It even gave me some ideas on improving our product, which currently is, according to this talk, a monolith trying to look like a bunch of (micro)services. Very enlightening.
I'm not sure I agree with some of the the development methododies suggested. Speaker seemed to be nerveous, and therefore speaking to fast, which also made him difficult to follow in the back of the room. But I'm sure that will improve with experience.
Brilliant work by the PHPcrew -- Again
Not a bad talk. It did feel a wee bit rehearsed, but the talk gave some food for thought and left the audience member thinking about how they can watch for opportunities to streamline repetitive tasks. It would've been interesting to walk through a PHP-specific scenario. All in worth attending, but a deeper dive would've been well received.
