Didn't I just upgrade to 5.3?

This is, and perhaps will be, the most informative session of the entire event. I enjoyed learning about the history of PHP and the community around it. Though C code is far above my comprehension, it was nice to get a glimpse of what the PHP engine was up to. You have an excellent, amiable demeanour, and that shines through when you speak. The numerous, uproarious laughs throughout proved it.

Great review of PHP's past, overview of its future direction, and delving into the behind-the-scenes details of new feature implementations. Loved it.

Sara, thanks for sharing the things you're so passionate about.

And we forgive you for pronouncing "Z" the American way. :)

Great overview of the history of PHP. It is interesting to see the subtle ways in which it changed that are hard to see if you're only a user of the language as opposed to actually writing the language. Also, you handled the heckling very well. :)

Very interesting talk and presented very well also. It was encouraging to see where PHP came from, where it is now and the direction it's going.

This is not your standard changelog shiny feature rundown. Learned a lot about the performance improvements in 5.4 and 5.5 and some smart things that the engine does. And it was entertaining as well, loved it!

I loved the dive inside the engine, especially the performance optimizations in 5.4. More PHP devs need to understand what's going on under the hood, even if they never touch C code.
