With PHP 7.2 recently released, and PHP 5.3 and 5.4 still accounting for over 40% of all production environments, it’s time to paint a clear picture on not just why everyone should move to 7.x, but on how to get code ready for the latest version of PHP. In this talk, we’ll look at some handy tools and techniques to ease the migration.

Excellent information, now just have to convince the boss to let us upgrade!

A nicely informative session covering the many changes from PHP 5.6 to PHP 7.0 and some impressive tools (PHP_CodeSniffer/PHPCompatibility) in automating the migration process from older PHP apps to 7.x. Really useful stuff!

Going into this talk I was skeptical about the benefit over an online upgrade guide, but Wim Godden's experience and advice was invaluable. This talk covered a TREMENDOUS amount of information in a short time, and so it did move pretty quickly but each topic was covered sufficiently. In addition to upgrade advice the information on performance and migration tools was much appreciated. The talk was easy to follow and Wim was a great speaker who checked to be sure the audience was following. Very glad I attended. Thank you so much for the slides!
