If Carlsberg did PHPNW sessions.... Rowan would still kick their ass !

Agree with the above. This was both the funniest and most practical talk of the day. Thanks!

Best presenter for thw whole day

Great talk, lots of code, very entertaining!

Brilliant talk, came out of it still amused and was talking about it all the way back to the car! Bare in mind we were parked a mile and a half away!

Very entertaining speaker and presentation style!

No real criticisms as such, but perhaps the pace / amount of content was a wee bit much for 50 minutes. Also I feel that "ElasticBeanstalk" should be mentioned in the title somehow.

Great.

Talk was delivered well at a good pace and Rowan is very entertaining!
I was hoping this talk would have made it so deploying on AWS as easy as "click here and here, now you're done" but it made me appreciate PAAS a lot more! It gave me enough information to be confident in giving it a try myself though, and untangled where to begin.

Very well delivered, Rowan comes across as an excellent communicator and a funny guy to be around.

Really enjoyed the first half, I got a little bored as we went through some of the code, but then picked up again with more AWS provisioning stuff towards the end.

Great talk covering something I've wanted to know more about for a while - a lot easier to follow than Amazon's documentation for achieving the same. I now know enough to get started with Elastic Beanstalk.

My only negative feedback would be that although the terminal-as-slides thing was a cool idea, sometimes commands would appear right at the bottom of the screen, which were hard to see if you weren't right in front of the screen.

This talk had me in stitches from the start. I've been interested in using amazon AWS for a while. I liked how Rowan also showed when he encountered problems and how he managed to get around them. Most talks i've been to show the solution not the process.

Cool idea for the slides being all on the terminal. And as usual, good delivery etc etc. Bit of a shame that the last bits were rushed through to finish on time - but still a great talk.

Funny and well delivered talk from an excellent public speaker. Rowan covered AWS deployment including some warnings on costly gotchas during initial setup. Took away some good knowledge, although the content did feel a little 'crammed in' to the time available.

Hey Rowan,

Great humor, talk content and delivery. The style of talk was unusual and a good change. Use of the CLI through most of it was great.

I didn't know much about EB in the past so my mind was a bit blown to be honest but I was able to get back on track constantly as you were explaining everything through every step of the way.

I will definitely be looking at the slides in greater detail while I have time to read and digest what you're doing properly.

No constructive feedback to be fair, everything from delivery and great talk content was spot on.

Cheers,
Paul.

Delivered really well.

An excellent talk, with just the right mix of humour and detail at the end of the day. Rowan's style was great, delving back into terminal-based commands and appealing to the high-geek in all of us.

The choice of green-on-white text for the slides could have been an issue in other rooms but as this track had multiple decent screens throughout, everyone was able to see all they needed to. By the end of it I just wanted to run off and play with AWS!

Rowan is one of my fav. speakers from previous years and I attended this talk because it was by him, not because I had any great desire to learn about AWS. The quirky slide style was great fun (only let down by being in the worst of the three rooms) and I was pleasantly surprised to find myself actually interested in AWS through Rowan's superb presentation skills and clear instruction.

Well presented talk, but felt that it was a little rushed to get everything in. Not sure if there was anything that could have been done about that though.

Very very entertaining talk and I was happy to see at least someone using a Linux terminal :).

I'm not an AWS user yet but this talk showed me how easy it is to do it. Thanks

Funny talk as always, and I loved the presentation style and slides

Most enjoyable talk of PHPNW12 as far as I'm concerned. Very nice presentation style; funny but still to the point. Good overview of AWS and how to work with it, including some good examples of how not to work with it.
