Talk comments

Next time, I will bring my shades as this talk was so brilliant. I even got a tan out of it ;-) Cheers! Really enjoyed it... not sure about how well the title suited this tho. Also, some may have been gutted that the examples didn't cover MySQL as such.

I enjoyed the keynote speech. Some people seem to think it was a little longer, and in one respect I agree with them because it shouldn't be that hard to tell people to simplify things. However, I found Josh a really engaging speaker so the length of the speech really just blended in to the background. Would be happy to hear more from him.

I quite enjoyed this talk. Whereas I don't think I agreed with everything the speaker was saying at the time, it gave me a lot to think about and nudged me in to a better way of structuring pieces of code that allow of easier testing under different conditions (allow for mock objects, for example, and not so tied to a db).

One of my favourite talks of the day. Ian appeared very knowledgeable, gave clear and concise source code examples, great ideas and information about the subject.

A good talk with lots of interesting points that I need to look up further.

Really great talk that covered pretty much all aspects of dealing with legacy code. It was well presented with great slides, and from now on when I'm dealing with a soul-destroying timebomb of a bloated legacy system I can dream of all the docs that just couldn't be found or tools couldn't be practically implemented.

Still, we can but try!

Really interesting and well presented talk.
Went in with a mixed amount of interest, came out with a plan to build my own web service! Can't get much better than that.

This was a great talk for the keynote, just right for getting everyone's brains to wake up and settle into the right frame of mind for the rest of the day. I agree with a lot of the points that he had to make, others required a bit more consideration.

Also loved the illustrations on his slides, though some were a little text heavy.

Interesting talk covering some things I knew, some things I didn't. Although the talk was slightly lacking in a clarity of flow (if that expression even makes sense but hopefully you know what I mean), it was made up for by the extensive knowledge that Johannes' clearly has about PHP. Besides you can't underestimate how hard it is to put together such a technically heavy talk and present it in an interesting and engaging way.

Really great talk in which I learnt a lot. Ian clearly knows a scary amount about his subject and managed to present all the information in a clear and easy to follow way. Thanks Ian!
