Google Wave, Voice and Laszlo Webtop – The Future of Web Communication
Raju Bitter (17.Nov.2009)
Talk at WebTech Conference 09 (German)
With the announcement of Google Wave and Laszlo Webtop as well as Alcatel-Lucents Rich Communications Manager, we experience a trend towards a new generation of unified communication solutions for the web. The idea is to connect the multiple strings of electronic communication, integrated into desktop-like portals - delivering an improved user experience for consumers and communication experts. While Google Wave re-invents the idea of thread-based, real-time online communication, Webtop and the Rich Communications Manager enable the integration of e-mail, chat, SMS, MMS and voice mail and phone call into one UI, enriched by intelligent drag & drop support. In this session we will take a look at how a combination RIAs, next generation portals and communication features might change the way we communicate today.
