Tremendous amount of information on the for profit education sector and their many issues.
Barmak Nassirian (21.Feb.2011 at 16:00)
Talk at SACRAO 2011 (English - US)
SESSION ROOM: CAPITOL SOUTH
For-profit colleges and universities have enjoyed spectacular growth over the course of the past decade, and several of them are now multibillion dollar publicly-traded corporations. Supporters have hailed them as the best hope of expanding educational access, while critics point to high student loan default rates, low graduation rates, and high dependency on federal funding as indicators of profound problems. This session will provide an overview of the emerging for-profit university market and the policy challenges it faces. Barmak Nassirian has served as associate executive director of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) since 1998. AACRAO is a nonprofit association of more than 2,300 institutions of higher education and more than 10,000 campus enrollment services officials. Barmak has been active in higher education policy for over 20 years, focusing on a broad range of issues including access, accountability, privacy, and financing.
