PHPSpec - BDD for PHP

Marcello Duarte (20.May.2011 at 16:15)
Talk at Dutch PHP Conference 2011 (English - US)

Rating: 4 of 5

Software development is more about people and collaboration than 0s and 1s. To help keep developers focused on value rather than the code BDD (Behaviour Driven Development) was created. PHPSpec is the first PHP BDD Framework. This talk gives you a good introduction, full of code examples and good coverage of available features.

Interesting overview to BDD and PHPSpec. There should be more attention to this.

Disclaimer - this guy is a colleague.

Nicely put together, Marcello cares about the subject a lot and is engaging. I guess the only criticism is that this was not a lightning talk; there was too much material. Still, will have plenty of time to discuss it.

Very interesting, I agree with Stefan there should be more attention to this.

I have a vague idea that perhaps the Behavior-driven approach works better than TDD to sell "testing" to managers and customers... It somehow sounds more real to non-technical people to show them a report that shows that the application indeed behaves the way it should.

HINT HINT: I would like to see more of this in a future conference :).
