Do you know what a .dll really is? or how the loading path works? Where does PHP search for an .ini file when run as fast-cgi on a windows box? How do you live without grep and sed? Many PHP developers are so used to working on Linux or Mac systems that they become quickly overwhelmed when faced with issues on a Windows machine. They complain that "Windows doesn't work right" - forgetting that at some point they said the same thing about their OSX or Ubuntu boxes.

This talk goes over three basic things every developer should know when working with PHP on windows. First, the basics of how windows works and how to install, configure, and debug PHP. This also addresses things like using COM and ODBC, and talking to databases on windows from other servers. Second the talk addresses the environment, how to make windows "feel" more like the command line environments that developers are used to. Finally the talk addresses setting up build environments on windows - something that Mac and Linux distributions handle with packaging tools or installers.

I definitely want to see this, just so I can argue with you about it.

"every developer should know when working with PHP on windows"
Thankfully I am blissfully unaware of how to even install PHP on windows.

Sounds like something worth knowing though if I ever need to debug weirdness of windows..

I'm trying to bring PHP to our Windows/Java shop. This would be great to know.
