Super good talk! again very substantive with lots of explantory code examples.
Though very enthusiastic as a presenter, not sure he quite captured the felt need of why one should do functional programming. Can't fault him too much because the philosophical core of functional programming goes over most people's heads. Clojure community (and others LISP like languages) has the advantage of starting from core as a functional language.
Edit: Ok, his question answer w.r.t. Erlang was spot on. Learning a more pure functional language (even studying one) does make your PHP code better. Excellent suggestion. Adding a thumb.
This talk was incredible. I'm really excited to apply what I've learned in my daily development practice.
Superb talk!
Great talk about functional programming. Must see to improve on programming skills
Excellent. Nice fit with Andrew's closure talk. I look forward to reading over this slide deck later. And over and over.
Very good presentation, with the theoretical background shown in a nice interesting fashion. Examples were easy to comprehend and it relates really well to good programming practices by displaying the power and flexibility of functional programming.
Very good talk. Telling the computer the rules and then letting it figure out how to win sounds like good times.
A good talk about functional programming. I wish the code example text was larger.
Slides or reference links would be really helpful. Enjoyed the talk.
Awesome! Please post slides.
Lots of good information, very dense. Code slides were kind of hard to read from the back. At the end it felt like the pace sped up a lot... jumping from step 2-3 of basics to "this is the inevitable conclusion". Could have used another round or two in between, in my view. Still valuable though.
Clear, informative and engaging. You are a great teacher.
Nice, very informative.
This was a densely informative and interesting talk. Moved a little fast for me in the code samples though. Looking forward to reviewing the slides so I have time to soak in all of the information.
