XML for PHP developers (45 minutes) - Sudheer Satyanarayana
Hundreds of technologies are built on top of XML. As PHP developers, understanding technologies like RSS, Atom, XML-RPC, SOAP, etc is crucial. In this introductory talk, Sudheer discusses various XML parsers available in PHP. At the end of the talk, you will learn how to read and create XML documents from your PHP scripts. Two recipes will be presented
* Parse RSS and Atom feeds
* Scrape websites that don't offer information in a structured format
How to use Windows Server Core for PHP (45 minutes) - Anand
The Server Core installation option for the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system provides a minimal environment for running specific server roles that reduces the maintenance and management requirements and the attack surface for those server roles. This session will give an overview of how to setup IIS on Windows Server Core and use it for hosting PHP applications.
