Great even put on by Organizing Team! The conference had a good community feel to it. Good talks with tables made taking notes easy. Tasty lunches, engaging sponsors, and amazing people to talk with and learn from.
Venue layout was unique, but easy once I figured it out. Convenient food carts, public transit, and loved running along the river before sessions started.
Loved attending Cascadia PHP this yeare!
This was my first time to Cascadia and to Portland. The talks were great and the hallway track was amazing. This is probably the smaller of the conferences I've been and I really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know more people. Alena and crew put on a great conference and made me feel very much at home. The amigurumi elephants for the speakers were a lovely treat and the crochet workshop by Alena's daughter was a lot of fun (that kid has the patience of a veteran teacher).
The Portland Chamber of Commerce should be a major sponsor of this conference because the little bit I was able to explore around the venue (all hail Powell's!) makes me want to return for a week with my family to explore and experience Portland in greater detail and spend some hard-earned cash at its various retail options.
This was my first time at Cascadia. Once I finally got my mind around the non-euclidean geometry of the hotel, it was easy to get around and find what I needed. Meeting some new people and seeing some old ones for the first time in a very long time was awesome. I think the only thing I'd really suggest changing is to move the social night to the first night so that people have that chance to mingle a bit before the empty night where there's nothing scheduled so people can maybe make plans with people they met on the first day.
Fantastic conference again. Huge thanks to Alena and all the others who helped run it, and all the speakers.
This event had the best conference coffee ever! Come for the coffee, stay for the interesting talks and people.
Given the non-Euclidean geometry of the venue, as Omni put it, the fab 70s design, and the M.C. Escher-like staircases, you know that a murder happened here -- and it was done by all of the great speakers, because they killed it!
