Good info, but I think this could benefit from more real-world or sample app examples. As it stands I can't think of how I could use the reflection improvements, the polling stuff, and the URI/URL stuff in a real-world app. The partial function applications sample code was good, so maybe the rest of the features could use similar examples.
Separately, just for PHP8.6 itself, I do not think all of these ? all over the place are going to decrease the cognitive load of reading code. I can just "see" my boss seeing that in the code and making me take them all out.
I really liked the code samples, they were very clear and easy to follow. After listening to this talk, it wasn't hard to imagine what my state machine might be for my work app.
Very helpful, I built a checklist that I'm sure will come in handy for the next time I'm transitioning roles. I also appreciated all the book recommendations.
Very interesting talk that I was immediately able to apply to my work app's database to try out, which is always a bonus. We don't use Postgres but demonstrating both side-by-side was appreciated. I don't like Postgres syntax, it seems extra complicated. I also appreciated the tradeoffs of using tables vs. not, it helps curb the "let's deploy this thing now!" temptation.
Very informative. All of the questions I had were answered in the span of the talk, which is a sign of a good talk. Man some of those tests look familiar…
Loved the examples and the concepts, direct stuff to take back.
Great energy, good technical examples, plenty of content, and some jokes mixed in. Nice presentation with actionable takeaways. Would be nice to have slides linked here for ease of reading.
High-energy, polished presentation that makes a difficult subject to chew through engaging & motivating.
The concepts were good, but it was hard to follow where the code samples "lived" as you worked through it. I think everyone should be using state machines, so keep telling people about it.
Very patient and well prepared.
