Was there an Install Fest like there was at the Madison+ Ruby conference? If so, I missed it. As a beginner in Ruby on Rails and PHP (work in Microsoft & Oracle) I found the Install Fest great fun and very useful. Having something similar would be a major help in getting started. Also, if you could move closer to downtown/campus, that would be better. Getting out to Alliant is difficult without a car.
