Hi guys, the slides are now posted. Great conference, thanks!!
Keith
Nice to hear the current state of things with regards to 'our' information and the (un)willingness of the government.
You were so passionate about the subject, that I'm looking forward to hear even more details about the case studies you showed - and your involvements of course
It's clear that you know and care deeply about this topic, but the structure of your talk worked against you. Your apologetic explanation of why at the end needed to be a bold explanation at the start. I thought the balloon idea was great, although I was surprised that you didn't allow for the idea that some folk might not have jumped at all. ;)
Also, your repeated slide (where are you at the moment?) needed to have a white background with the grid on it, with the quadrants labelled ("high energy/high perspective" etc) and the images for each end of the axes should probably be rethought.
An excellent idea, well delivered, but did not reach the potential it had. I'd rate it more highly if it hadn't been a keynote.
Really nice presentation about the current state of the Australian voting system, and the open source, not-for-profit attempts to improve upon that situation.
For the next time, I wouldn't have minded it a bit if you would show more of the application that you built (auprefs.info). It surely deserves more attention!
Not only showing the history of 3D printing, but also managing to put the current and future state of 3D printing in perspective. Crossing the boundaries between technology, goods, ethics and politics, all neatly wrapped into a presentation. Excellent.
Robot talks are always popular. I loved the photo walk-through, a great way to show off individual features. Your passion and knowledge is obvious.
I got totally lost in the middle - but Tom made a great attempt to talk about a very difficult subject.
I'd like to have seen more on the quantum computers themselves.
