Tired.
Already a good start to #phpnw13. hackathon was a great atmosphere with a lot of work being achieved, as well as the fun of watching the attempts at guitar hero... very productive, interesting being video interviewed about my own project, and chatting with the guys from UKFast about how successful the hackathon had been.
Second time in a row attending PHPNW as a speaker and I love the way the event starts with the hackathon and social. Although I arrived a bit late from Paris, I really enjoyed seeing all my international friends again and share on tech things. Super great time and fun atmosphere with music and video games!
Unfortunately I got very little coding done as I was too busy drinking (so it was a social rather than hackathon for me), but it was definitely fun & meeting people! Downsides: the alcohol gave me a hangover.
Lots of fun, hacking away with a huge group of people. Food was good as well :)
A fantastic evening, meeting loads of new people, getting involved with new projects, and first pull requests. Loads of fun!
Great fun hacking away, and also putting faces to names of people in the process! The addition of Guitar Hero also added a bit more atmosphere via the music.
Good night: lots of hacking, discussing, and socialising done - and for free, the food was good
The music volume did however creep up too much - which made it hard to have a proper discussion at times (which when you're working on a project, you sometimes need to do)
(Extra addition)
I think the combined social/hackathon got confusing too, ticket-wise, and there weren't enough tickets available. It seems if you didn't get into the (very limited) hackathon - or just didn't want to code on a Friday night - you had no official option for the night
Taking the speakers out for their meal for the first hour worked in theory, but in practice it meant that a lot of project leads weren't around to welcome newcomers to their project and show them what to do. Of course, there's other community members around who can help - but often there are questions you need to ask the lead
Hackathon was great, guitar hero could get a bit loud for us who tried getting some coding done and burgers sucked. But it was still much better than last year with a working wifi, YAY! :D
Apart from the fact that the speakers dinner clashed with the hackathon and that the room was quite small everything was well done.
