Being a developer, programmer, analyst, tester, designer, etc ? is hard. We work in an industry that champions the 12+ hour work day; continued learning and open source contributions, but not on the company?s dollar. We?re continually berated with the idea of the 10x developer and so we must work harder, read more blogs, write more code and buy more books ? but when will it ever end? Will technology ever stand still long enough to let us all catch up? No. You?ll always be busy, busy playing catch up in a race you didn?t sign up for. Fortunately, there?s another way. Instead of being busy, I can help you be more productive. I will walk you through some of the tools and techniques that I use on a daily basis to, not only, maintain and upgrade my skills in the world of ever changing technology, but, and more importantly, to protect my sanity, be more present and remove stress and fear from my life.

Well paced talk, with some great tips on tackling the daily workload. I'm not sure I will be having a cold shower or getting up at 5:30 though! :) What was the chrome app (for receiving singular tasks) called which was described by a member of the audience during the Q&A section at the end?
Very interesting, looking forward to the slides being online so I can download them
Great talk!
Brilliant talk covering a wide area of productivity methods and techniques that are applicable to everyone. I'm already a big fan of Getting Things Done so it's an easy sell! David was a great speaker and instantly likeable. The talk was interspersed with some humourous slides which made it easy to concentrate and follow along.
Amazing talk - really enjoyed listening to David share his own experiences with the journey to being more productive and more mindful! Lots of good advice given and clearly laid out. Very well structured, well paced, well delivered with some funny moments too. Loved it!
Ok so I'm a bit of a productivity nerd too, but nevertheless, this provided me with some additional insight and gave me some motivation to continue on this path. Definitely agree that Pomodoro technique does not work too well as a developer - it's annoying to have to drop in and out of intense work every 25 minutes.
Absolutely brilliant!! Three talks made my php conference, and yours was on of those.
My favourite talk of the conference.
Pacing was just right (despite the issues at the start with the AV equipment of the room, no fault of Davids) - the content was a great taster of things to take away and research further. Lots of great material, studies, books and sources were cited to give background on the points made.
David is a confident, clear and thoughtful speaker.
Well delivered talk which did what it set out to do, with very nice slide designs too. Very opinionated which is natural in this area, but whilst I disagree with some of the concepts the way you arrived at them and how they work for you was very clearly stated.
A great talk. As developers we often overlook how important the issues surrounding overwork and productivity really are.
This talk addressed a lot of areas that I've been considering over time and definitely gave me a lot to look into. It was good to hear your experiences and what you have learnt from them for what works for you. The talk was delivered clearly and confidently and kept me engaged throughout.
Great talk. Really enjoyed listening to less tech and more human stuff. Very inspiring for me.
