Nicolas speaks about accessibility for people with disabilities, the current efforts by so many projects and conferences to include diversity, and how the term "accessibility" can create an "us vs them" mindset that doesn't benefit anyone. Using his experience working with people with disabilities and working on several FOSS projects and anecdotes, He'll paint a picture of where we've been, where we're at, and what the future may look like.

The emphasis on the fact that accessibility benefits everyone was a paradigm shift for me. I love it!
An entertaining speaker who spoke from firsthand struggles and experiences. Very insightful. Shows us that simply opening up to other perspectives can help others enjoy the products and services we use.
Excellent talk! Made me think much more differently about how to approach the issue of "accessibility" in a way i would never have come up on my own.
My father-in-law is blind & I think about this issue a lot, but I'm hoping I'll have some whole new approaches to my ideas now.
Great speech, my favorite keynote of the event. You did what too few other speakers attempted: You were funny! Even though the topic was important, you didn't hold back from applying a sense of humor throughout the speech. Well done! And I love that Pac-Man jacket. :-)
I learned so much from Nic. It was knowledge I may never have seeked out. So I very much appreciate it. Also, your adorable sidekick and the pac man jacket were bonuses!
I loved this talk - especially the idea that if we just stopped building impenetrable fences, we wouldn't need to worry about how to get everyone to see over the fence equally. Make a better fence, not a better set of boxes!
This was a great talk that helped me understand why inclusive design is important and made me reflect on projects. Great talk!
Thanks for the tip on https://knowbility.org/services/ -- passed on to Bankrate and Red Ventures dev teams.
Nic's experience and passion were evident in this memorable talk. Loved the relatable examples of what inclusive design is and it sparked good questions from the audience.
that joke about "yeah but im not deaf" was epic. Like sonny said, the talk did shift my perspective on accessibility
Making people rethink "wheelchair bound" would be enough to give this five stars. Having attended both of Andrea Skeries's talks, this gave an even higher-level overview of *why* this stuff is important. And I've been trying to use sites in other ways and have been noticing places where they're deficient. Like the fact that I can't give you five stars on Joind.in using only a keyboard.
Thank you for the excellent talk in both information and humor.
Super good, this helped me to realize that it is true that we should do every effort to make our applications available to be used by everybody.
