In our volatile and uncertain times, developers like you can play a crucial role in protecting the safety and privacy of the people who use the things you build. Whether you enjoy the support of an employer or work on your own as a freelancer, taking steps to safeguard user privacy must become a part of your everyday development workflow.

This talk will provide a practical toolkit which draws on current and upcoming data protection regulation, the Privacy by Design development framework, and recognised best practices in protecting personal data to inspire attendees to integrate a healthy approach to privacy into everything they do.

Insightful look into the current state and future of privacy for devs

Intresting comparison. Hoping to less theorical but still I learn stuff here. Nice review of where we are and what's comming on.

I really liked the pretty high level view on the cultural differences between the US and Europe, and its impact on how each side see the privacy questions.

And the far more hand's on kickoff list is very valuable too.

On a side note, I would have put less bullet points on the slide or make them appear one after each other to keep the link with the talk.

Thank you for this talk, looking forward to implement some of the ideas presented!

The talk, while not as technical as I'd have hoped, did an excellent job of covering a number of the global pieces of privacy legislation, why they're important to respect as part of a standard development process, and the differences between the European and American mindsets. It was especially helpful to hear some of the cultural reasons which underpin the different attitudes to privacy across the Atlantic (and in the countries which have strong European heritage).

Great insights into privacy first development and the reasons why this is so important.
Really liked the insights into the differences in views towards privacy due to cultural history.

A great talk about current and upcoming changes with privacy laws. Especially the difference in culture part in different continents ultimates me :). Though I think I would have liked some examples on big screw ups.

Good high level talk.

It was really interesting to have a "meta" view of cultural differences between US&Europe followed by real examples and informations!

I enjoyed the insight in different attitudes towards privacy in society and business between Europe and the US.
I liked the inclusion of references to work so it will be easy to follow up on this talk.

Some sheets were confusing, for instance the 'what you have, how you engage, how you work sheet'.
I would have also liked to see specifics of Dutch/European privacy rules.
Something minor: slide 38 (the seven principles of PbD) has 'PbD' in an octagon - just use a circle.

A very informative talk
