The last 15 minutes presented concepts in DDD that I wish the rest of the talk reflected.
The first half of the talk focused largely on what DDD isn't and nomenclature, but didn't provide a solid foundation of understanding.
A plethora of books, talks, and videos were referenced, which could have been more of. Footnote. I would have liked to see a more top down approach to explaining the concepts of domain-driven design.
While I'm new to DDD, the "meat" of his presentation was in the last 20 minutes. Gave me a lot to digest and plenty of ammo as to benefits of DD. Very well done, I would only suggest condensing the first half in the like 10-15 minutes.
Great overview of Domain Driven Design. One hour is not long enough to cover this topic, but Andrew did a great job of providing an overview and reviewing resources for digging deeper. I loved how he described three popular DDD books as "Old Testament, New Testamant, and Catechism", that was a great analogy for quickly giving us a handle. So far, this has been my favorite talk.
I knew nothing about DDD before this talk and now understand how to get started with it. The talk was a little slow to start and could have benefitted from a few more concrete example. However, there are definitely some techniques that I can use in my next design meeting so I learned something useful.
As an overview talk, this is pretty good. Good emphasis on ubiquitous language. With such a technical topic like this, I'd prefer to see less gifs and memes, but I guess I'm in a minority :) otherwise great! Thanks.
This talk was the exactly-correct balance for me. The relatively long intro of books and what DDD isn't, is what was of most use to me. I've read a bit of Evans and Vaughan (Old and New Testaments in the talk) and stopped. They're relatively old. Are the books a waste of time or not? So now, thanks to Andrew, I know where and how things fit together, and that YES the modern DDD approaches are worth exploring.

This was definitely a topic worth discussing. However, I think it would have been better to start off with an overview of the main concepts of DDD.

Some of the slides were a bit distracting, but Simpsons GIFs sure beat a wall of text.
