In this talk Jenny will be sharing the work that has been happening to do just that. She will talk about the work being done with hosting providers, about plugin support, project Serve Happy and what still needs to happen before WordPress drops PHP 5.2 support.

Very interesting to see how a project like Wordpress can actively encourage PHP users to upgrade - lots more nitty-gritty work being done that I didn't realise was happening
A very clear and informative talk.
I found it interesting to listen to the reasons behind keeping the min. PHP version at 5.2 even though I don't do WP day to day. Learn quite a bit about the WordPress (capital P dangit! ;) community in general which was cool. Great talk from Jenny, delivered really well and clearly and good interaction with the audience too.
Interesting talk about some of the reasons why its not easy to upgrade. I still came out not totally sure why 5.2 is supported, if providers / users are not wanting to upgrade then it seems easier to just stop shipping updates to them ? Security updates only maybe for an extra 2 years or so.
Jenny was very clear and passionate about WordPress which was great to see
Fantastic talk, I learnt quite a bit about how WordPress prefers to be user centric instead of developer centric. Also was great to actually hear the argument for using PHP5.2 articulated in a way that makes sense to developers.
