As a developer, you spend your entire life learning. But what happens when the tables are turned and you become the teacher? Do you want to become a conference speaker or a mentor, talk to your local user group, give presentations at work, or become a technical trainer? As a previous classroom teacher with a Master's Degree in Curriculum Development, I will take you on a journey to understand the various learning styles and how to effectively reach everyone. We will look at how to present your information, best ways to structure it, and learn ways to reach all students no matter their level. We will also cover a number of best practices for crafting your presentation decks themselves. Join me for this exploration into the inner workings of the human mind.

Good infos but had been hoping it would be more specifically focused on presenting to a group of peers such as at a conference like this or to a user group.
As a coding instructor, I was happy to see this type of talk at the conference. I was a bit late, but the slides provide a great reference.
I showed up 20 minutes late and really annoyed with myself, this talk was full of great information on ensuring how to teach effectively. Thankfully you've uploaded the slides for the content I missed; thanks!
Very informative. Slides a bit hard to see
I appreciated this talk, and thought the types of learning was interesting and important information. I kind of liked that this wasn't specific about software development, and was more universal.
I appreciated that this topic was at a PHP conference. Anyone can benefit from learning how people learn (including ourselves). There was a lot of content to go over but Heather managed to get through it.
The learning styles inventory site is confusing to use. The learning style quiz isn't quite working how I expect as I can't make it show me all the questions or progress to the next page of questions.
This presentation's information will be very useful as I work with my internal training committee.
I loved the break down of learning styles and what motivates adults to learn. I knew there would be a lot of information geared towards teaching larger groups but I had hoped there would be some tips on more informal one-on-one teaching for when you need to explain things to a co-worker or teach a user the ins and outs of your program.
Loved all of the content. I would love to see some resources that you'd recommend to improve in this area, such as books or training on adapting content to meet specific learning styles.
