Larry's talks (and books!) are always fun and clearly presented. He's a great speaker and a nice guy. But I think the topic was too deep for a 45 minute presentation. I have done some AJAX in the past and I understood what he was saying, but most of the attendees had not. I think he probably lost a lot of people about mid-way through the talk.
I enjoyed this talk - XMLHTTPRequest is what makes Ajax work. It is a hard topic, and presented well. As Larry mentioned - for specific examples you can go to his website and download his GREAT examples.
