The last meetup of Spring, with both a returning location and a returning speaker! And another speaker!

We will be travelling to Youwe's new location in the city centre, where we will be treated to a slice and a pint, so bring those appetites! And while we're there, Damien Seguy, our resident elePHPant father, will talk about one of his favourite subjects: static analysis. After that, Renato Mendes Figueiredo will continue the night with his talk about GraphQL.

Review unknown code with static analysis

Code quality is not just for Christmas, it is a daily part of the job. So, what do you do when you’re handed with a five feet long pole a million lines of code that must be vetted? You call static analysis to the rescue. During one hour, we’ll be reviewing totally unknown code: no name, no usage, not a clue. We’ll apply a wide range of tools, reaching for anything that helps us understand the code and form an opinion on it. Can we break this mystery and learn how everyone else is looking at our code?

GraphQL is right in front of us, let's do it, with Symfony

"GraphQL represents a massive leap forward for API development," says GitHub. What can we do with it in PHP? It turns out to be not that hard. In this talk, I will present how you can make this happen using PHP with Symfony backed by the currently available libraries, while also taking some time to introduce you to the concept behind it and what could be the advantages for your project.

Renato is a developer who loves Linux, web and beautiful code, tries to mix technologies with some inspiration during his work in order to have creative and reliable solutions. Also, thinks the eclectic interest is a must have to be able to provide those solutions."

You can find Youwe in the Rotterdam Building, at the Aert van Nesstraat 45, on the 7th floor (or 8th floor, if you're 'murican). This is right across from the Bijenkorf parking garage, so finding a spot to park shouldn't be a problem (and it's close to metro station Beurs).
