The talk was for a complete noob in web development world. Given that this was a PHP conference it was not for the right audience for the talk. The presentation itself was good, informative and funny.

Good and to the point based on real-world stuff.

A welcome break from PHP.
Informative and entertaining

Definitely a worthwhile talk - not directly PHP, but it was not billed as such. It was a great presentation for the end of a long day - Jen was upbeat and the talk was interesting. It was a good mix of all aspects of web technology, design is definitely an interesting topic.

Excellent talk! Jen is a warm and engaging presenter and as an independent web developer, the content was very relevant. Jen mentioned that she might be willing to give a talk next year on the "business" side of web development, and I would look forward to that.

Funny and good pace but time constraints cut details off, plus had expected a more indepth talk - types of strategy vs have a strategy

One of my favorite. The speaker was fun, knowledgable and very informative. I'm no noob by a long shot, but I still got a lot out of this talk.

This was an awesome talk. I agree with Bill - You don't need to be a noob to get something from this talk. There are many technically competent web developers out there who struggle because of things like not properly setting expectations with a client or not taking a percentage up front, etc.

I'm finding this trend funny that some people are giving speakers a lower rating due to "not enough detail". The objective of almost any 45-minute talk is to give you just enough detail so you understand the importance of the topic and leave wanting more. If you leave with that feeling, THAT'S A GOOD THING!!!

Maybe it's me, but it just seems wrong to take points away from someone because they left you wanting more.

If you want a more detailed explanation, check out Jen's book "Website Strategy & Planning", check out her lynda.com videos (she gave everyone a ticket for a free subscription) or head to Harvard Extension School and sign up for one of her classes. Or EMAIL HER! Her email address is on the last slide.

Great speaker and content. Needed more time. Session was sold out and deserved a longer time slot. Entertaining and informative.

Excellent talk. Jen's a terrific, engaging, and engaged speaker who provided a lot of information quickly, clearly, and memorably. She handled the SRO and sitting-on-the-floor crowd like a first rate comedian, telling us what she wanted to say, and keeping everything moving. In talking about working with clients, a number of questions came up about getting paid, and how to make sure that happens. Jen would be a great presenter on this subject - from Statement of Work to final payment - that would make for a great Meetup.

Provided methods and tools to help define the user requirements before creating detailed design. Good intro for me.
