Over the years, the PHP community has enjoyed an increase in events. This has given us more choice than ever over what we attend. At the same time, some of our favourite events have come to a close.
As the community recalibrates, needs have changed and events are repeatedly being challenged. Organisers are burdened with finding the solutions, but is there a way for us all to help?
With change comes an opportunity for growth. This is our chance to grow richer and stronger as a community.

Some great insight into the huge efforts people go to to make our community
Important message and a great reminder of how awesome the PHP community is. Felt slightly disjointed in places, but still a great talk that provides food for thought for everyone who was there!
Inspired me to get more involved, no matter how small my contribution might be.
Just like a keynote should be like. Entertaining and inspiring.
All dev groups need your / our help. Thats what makes them great. But, we are the best, because, elePHPants!
A great talk how we can contribute to the community
Inspiring content that has prompted me to look into my local user group.
The delivery seemed a little unrehearsed in places, but it didn't hamper the message
This was spot on!
Perfect talk!
Was brilliant and inspiring. Really engaged well with the audience.
It's always a pleasure to hear jenny talk about stuff. The energy is really contagious
Very influential and inspiring talk :)
Great talk, inspired once more to make an effort to attend PHP London
Solid talk recapping the last 14 years of PHP communities with a great level of research. Opinionated, as fits the subject matter, would have been interesting to go deeper into how companies profiting from user groups have more of a responsibility, and how often the burden ends up on the few rather than the many, though this was hinted at. Encouraging to see the depth of support for user groups within the PHP community laid out on screen in numbers and quotes.
I've never gone to a user group, but I may see if I can get to one local to my work.
Great talk from Jenny, with lots of great points and ideas shared. It's great to see her encourage others to join the community, and give plenty of useful and honest advice. Above all, thank you for sharing the PacMan rule - it was great to see so many people remember it at the social!
Didn't really work as a keynote for me. Was just quotes and stats.
Great keynote by Jenny. Her research and findings were an excellent study on user groups. It was great to hear others having similar problems and also seeing the benefit from user groups. Very well prepared, organized, and presented.
Good exploration of the state of user groups, and encouragement for folks to get involved! Definitely need more of that :)
Was great to hear the history of the user groups and where they are. The message was a great one though - especially around how you can help your local user group beyond becoming a full-on organiser. I wonder if there was perhaps a missed opportunity to identify areas of the country that were not covered and see if there were people in the room that could get connected to start one ? after all phpdorset started this way almost by chance.
I felt the talk meandered slightly in the middle - but Jenny's passion and enthusiasm gave it a strong finish and it was a really good choice of opening keynote.
Really good at showing how PHP has a grown as a community and just how much work meetup organisers put into keeping their groups going and what people can do to help, a lot of which hadn't even occurred to me.
Very positive start to the conference
Glad to see Jenny on the big stage! A great "behind the scenes" of the struggles of a community leader.
Organizing meetups & conference is hard and Jenny shared those stories excellently!
