This talk didn't quite work out sadly, but I wouldn't lose faith in the general direction you are heading in. I think the issue was it felt like two or three talks crammed into one. I'd pull out one of the issues you were talking about and really focus on it. I'd also consider your examples and your audience, I felt much more engaged when you provided your personal, small business example of bad behavior than when you talked about Uber or Trilogy. I've seen bad behavior in our industry, but I've never been on a private jet to Vegas or anywhere else. This is because I've only really worked in small organisations, less than 300 people, and I believe many PHP developers are in the same boat. It's difficult to relate to the glitz and glamour of Silicon Valley when you've spent most of your career hacking WordPress and Laravel for small agencies. I felt the same after I read Brotopia, which I assume you have also read. Don't give up on this or be too disheartened, I think with a little focus and thought you can turn this into a brilliant talk.
A good presentation although for me specifically I didn't pick up any new learnings
A solid technical talk, I learnt things and I thought the code examples were very well executed.
This was just a great talk, and you were a brilliant speaker. I left feeling inspired to look into Bref and serverless PHP.
There were some interesting points made in this talk which I felt deserved a little more attention, as the talk felt very broad. I thought the point on 'background processing' was really interesting for example and I'd like to have heard more. The slides were also too text heavy I think you could have cut the text down and added more visual stimulus and the talk would have retained its technical worth.
Interesting overview, with a lot of examples.
Great talk, learned something new that i can use in my daily work.
Good ending keynote, interesting views on deploys.
I like the way how Adam delivered excellent development tools to the audience. Writing clean, maintainable code is often a challenge to PHP developers, even to experienced developers. I'm looking forward to refreshing myself with what I have heard from the talk and improving my code better.
I thought I was a bit of an expert in this area, but you definitely taught me a few things, thank you. You are also a very engaging speaker. Really enjoyed this talk.
