While the content itself was spot-on, I'm always a bit frustrated when talks focused on legality and compliance hedge too much with "I am not a lawyer" disclaimers. The presenter both started with such a disclaimer _and_ hedged much of the Q&A with the same.
I think this was a good coverage of EU vs US Data Protection Laws. I learned a lot I did not know and now believe that this needs to be covered more often.
I didn't know the story of the rise and fall of Safe Harbour, etc., only that US perspective is different. This was quite useful to me.
I really appreciated the insights and history of data protection and some differences between US and EU. This is certainly a timely issue and I'd love to see more talks like this at conferences. I can appreciate that Marcus is not a lawyer and cannot speak to specific details, but it makes me think it would be helpful to bring an actual lawyer in for a tutorial day to really guide people through the topic and be able to answer specific detail questions.
I had no idea that UK companies couldn't host in the US. I thought that there was a bunch of good information. Hard for me to put my finger on exactly what, but felt like it could be polished a bit more. Maybe a theme would help?
