That silly thing called Covid walloped our community and now it's time to rebuild! This talk will take an introspective look at what the state of the community was prior to the pandemic, how we got through the pandemic community-wise and how we can reshape and rebuild the community today.
This talk is hopefully inspiring to at least one person in the audience to revive a user group, start a new one, or find one to join. Audience members will leave knowing who lead the community in the before times, and some of the people we look to these days to help us guide the wonderful PHP community.

Thank you Matt! That was a great summary of the current community state and an awesome call to action!
I’m sad this talk is still needed. But I’m delighted you gave it.
Good rallying call for (re)building the PHP community. So good to see Matt here!
Thank you so much for the talk! It gave me a lot to think about how I need to find someone to help me start a user group.
Loved this!
Great talk, it's time to rebuild
I feel this is a needed and important talk and I enjoyed it very much. Although personally I feel we need to focus equally on the online community to maintain an open and inclusive environment for all skill levels, especially in help channels which sometimes is missing. On the internet we are all one giant user group!
This was the first talk I got to sit in at the first conference I've attended in years, and it was exactly what I would've hoped for -- reassurance that the heart of the community I'd been missing is still out here, working to make our collective experience better, including perpetually holding the door open to invite folks to join those efforts. Thank you, Matt!
I owe my entire career as a PHP dev to getting involved in the community in 2003 and the random decision to focus on unit testing.
