I didn't enjoy this talk, and I think it's because it had little content that I personally found interesting.
For example, one of the few themes was licensing; which is in the same ballpark (for me) as prematurely optimizing for immense scaling demands. It's not that it doesn't matter. It's just that there are _many_ other things I'd rather hear about, in such a short space of time. And, it was a super short space of time.
I think I was just having a bad day, and it's less of a reflection on you than it is on me.
This was a very strange talk to end the conference on. Unlike the other keynotes it was not relevant to everyone in the audience, and it was discordant with the overall theme of Open Source. It felt like a commercial for FedEx.
Federico sounded like a great team player and gave some good examples of coming together as a team and some potential pitfalls. Most of the points were more geared towards project management instead of developers. The keynote should have gone a bit longer, and the overall theme didn't quite fit in as an ending keynote though, which is usually a celebration of the conference focus and a motivational send-off.
While I loved Federico's enthusiasm and stage presence, this felt more like a standard session than a keynote. I usually expect a closing keynote to touch on the overall themes of the conference and challenge the attendees to go forth and apply what they've learned for the betterment of others - this was more like a light retrospective on being bought out. It's not a bad subject, just not one I'd expect as a closing keynote.
It also felt like the more-relevant topics (like licensing and code ownership) were glossed over - I would've liked to hear more details and heard specific advice on how to avoid or work through the same issues Federico's team faced.
Sadly, I did not enjoy the ending speaker. I did love the fact the talk was short! I had a hard time relating to a "buy-out" talk, especially since I heard "How to Go From Developer to Stakeholder" talk, which was excellent and highlighting things a woman faces in a buy-out situation that a man might not encounter. This keynote did have good information. I think it would have been better suited in a talk timeslot and not as a keynote.
I was so annoyed at what mostly seemed like a lengthy ad for fedex. Half the talk was giving away backpacks that I didn't want. I wish they had told us there was nothing after this speaker so I could have bailed early.
