Very nice introduction to Scala. I was a bit worried it would be either too technical, or too shallow, but Erik managed to give a balanced talk. One thing that perhaps could've improved the talk even further would be to leave some of the syntax behind, and a spend a little more time on practical use cases to highlight Scala's strengths "in the wild". But overall still a really good talk!
Excellent talk and introduction into scala. I had no prior knowledge of scala so it was a bit baffling at times but I gained a few valuable insights into the solutions to common programming problems available in scala. Erik did really demonstrate the strengt and explained some of the weaknesses very well.
Thought the presentation and pace of the talk was just right and it was amazing to see that the speaker was always one step ahead of the questions from the audience, cause the answer was on the next slide almost all of the time. Uncanny ;-)
Only bummer for me was the compulsory "PHP devs don't care" slide at the end. Yeah yeah.

Good overview with examples of common things you may find in day-to-day developing. One thing I missed a bit is how the large overview of projects look like. Like what are you main things you need to set up, in terms of program entry points, configuration, etc. Although I suppose anyone could easily find that information online by themselves :)
I'm not personally convinced to switch to scala because the language doesn't really appeal to me, but it's not due to lack of trying from the speaker!
Only bad points:
- The colour used for age numbers was hard to read as the projector made it pink.
- Some of the longer slides meant sometimes heads got in the way of text
- could be a louder speaker : )

Erik spoke with close to no accent and could be heard clearly in the back. The material shifted between challenging and easy to grasp, which, I feel, appealed to programmers of all backgrounds.
It would have been great if I had been convinced which problems Scala tackles best. Being a fits-all language doesn't tickle my fancy per se.
All in all, this was a very good talk. It never bored and I will definitely look into writing some unacceptable Scala code this weekend.

You'd almost think Erik had built a time machine in scala with which he'd teleported himself back to change the slides according to the questions. Very well done.

Good talk. Erik gave a good introduction to scala to me (I hadn't heard of it before this meeting). Just the right level of introduction and details.
It was a very interesting overview.
The talk was fun, interesting and clear.
