Excellent talk - Joe gave us a lot of great ideas for how to get started modernizing a legacy application. I'm really anxious to sit down with my team and start implementing some of these strategies.

It was a bit scary that Joe organized his talk around Kubler-Ross's five stages of grief, but for those of us who have worked in legacy applications that framework seemed appropriate. I would have enjoyed some more personal stories, but found the general recommendations useful. Thanks for the insights.

The parallel Joe drew between dealing with legacy codebases and the stages of grief was worth a laugh. The presentation was materially excellent, but the organization was somewhat static. Too much like reading a list of thoughts. Presenter was quite good as well.

Entertaining and informative; good advice throughout.

Well composed presentation with solid tips about wrangling up some code that may or may not be under control. Especially since you said it was your first giving that talk. It could be worth including some discussion about leveraging the VCS history (if possible) to get some understanding of the code base.
