Superb!
Excellent talk! Laura always manages to be informative, motivational, and entertaining.
I liked the roll your own developer name. It's a shame there wasn't a neckbeard subclass.
Great keynote
Really enjoyed it.
A great talk highlighting how to keep Engineers (in this case yourself as an engineer) happy, motivated, and productive. A great overview of things to look for in a career, in a company, and in yourself.
My only complaint is the really simple slides just cause I like shinee (you can tell what kind of developer I am!) although the images were making me laugh :)
Another great Zendcon presentation.
Laura had a very informative talk, and made me analyze what I liked and disliked about my organization. She presented information that allowed us to examine ourselves, and what makes us thrive an "varied" environments.
Well done!
Interesting presentation and good talk about evaluating your happiness at work. Just switched job because of some of the reasons mentioned so could really relate.
Great job, excellent keynote.
Amazing talk, with very relevant information. Great speaker!!
Really enjoyed it.
Fantastic Speaker.
Best keynote!!
Great informative session~~ thanks for the book.
Laura gave one of the best talks of the entire conference! I took away a lot of great advice as a manager as well as coding myself.
Well worth it and I wish she had more sessions!
I think my throat would have gone dry from all the opportunities to say "I told you so!" to some former colleagues/managers this talk generated. Keeping developers happy and motivated is so, so easy and so many organizations drop the ball and fail to pick it back up before their best people leave, and their "not the best" people always stick around way too long and slow the progress of their careers.
IMO, this presentation should be required viewing for all of the "Powers That Be" at any organization, as well as for anybody who has been working at the same company longer than a handful of years "just in case".
Well done!
Took further some of my own ideas on the topic, which I'm incorporating into my PhD AI-based product.
Some examples were too vague; there's a lot between pragmatism and perfectionism.
Very interesting talk. I wondered during the topic of Purist vs. Pragmatist where someone falls if they compromise something to ship, but they feel bad about it.
This was one of the better sessions at Zendcon 2016. I was able to relate to all the session content and now have a greater respect for each of my co-workers, so Thank you Laura.
Really enjoyed Laura's keynote! Good insight into how to keep from burning out and being your best you despite the chaos and frustrations of this profession.
